The Toronto Star Wonderlist – 2017 Toronto Raptors Playoffs Round 1 – Win 2 tickets to see the Toronto Raptors in the Round 1 Playoff game


Agreement: These rules govern the “2017 Toronto Raptors Playoffs Round 1” (the “Contest”). No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest rules (“Contest Rules”) and the decisions of the Sponsor, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all Entrants.

Contest Sponsor: The Contest sponsor is, a property of Toronto Star Newspapers Limited, (the “Sponsor”). The Contest prize supplier is Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and their affiliates (collectively, the “Prize Supplier”).

Eligibility:This Contest is open to residents of Ontario who: (a) are 18 years of age or older as of the start of the Contest Period; and (b) live within a 241.4 Kilometers (150 Mile)-radius of the City of Toronto (each, an “Entrant”). Notwithstanding the above, the Contest is not open to employees, immediate family members (i.e. spouses and biological, step and adoptive parents, children and siblings) or anyone domiciled with any employee of the Sponsor, the Prize Supplier, the Toronto Raptors, the National Basketball Association and its Member Teams (“NBA”), NBA Properties Inc., NBA Media Ventures LLC or any of their respective parents, governors, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, shareholders, agents, advertising, promotional agencies or fulfilment houses (altogether, the “Released Parties”).

Contest Period: The Contest begins at 9:00 AM ET on April 07, 2017 and ends at 9:00 AM ET on April 14, 2017 (such period, the Contest Period). There are two ways to enter the Contest and be eligible to win a prize:

(a) Online: during the Contest Period access the Contest website at, read and accept these Contest Rules, and follow the instructions to complete and submit a “Contest Entry Form” with all required information (a valid email address will be required) resulting in one (1) “Online Entry”. Each entrant may use only one (1) email address to enter the Contest. There is a limit of one (1) Online Entry per person per day; or

(b) Email: during the Contest Period, email with the subject line “Raptors Contest”,your full name, email address, telephone number and an original 50 word essay about what type of contest you would like to see on Wonderlist, each resulting in one (1) “Email Entry”. There is a limit of one (1) Email Entry per person per day. Please note that each e-mail entry must be accompanied by a unique original essay.

(c) Bonus Entries: There is a limit of one (1) entry per person per day that can be obtained by submitting the online Contest Entry Form or an e-mail essay as outlined in (a) and (b) above. However, during the Contest Period, each Entrant may obtain additional entries into the draw (up to a maximum total of five (5) additional entries per day, each, a “Bonus Entry”) by either:

i. sharing the personal referral link that will be provided to the Entrant following the Entrant’s submission of the online Contest Entry Form. The entrant will automatically be granted one (1) Bonus Entry into the draw for each such referral who also submits a valid Contest Entry Form online. Each entrant may only enter using one email address. Entrants must use the personal referral link provided to refer only friends or family; no Bonus Entries will be provided for Entrants referring people with whom they have no personal or family relationship, and Entrants providing any such referrals will be disqualified from the Contest – see Section 10 below for details;
ii. emailing with the subject line “Raptors Contest”, your full name, email address, telephone number and an original 25 word essay about what type of contest one of your good friends might like to see on Wonderlist. Please note that each e-mail Bonus Entry must be accompanied by a unique original essay. Please do not include any personal information about your friends (e.g. your friends’ names or e-mail addresses) as part of your submission.
Prizing: There is one (1) prize available to be won, consisting of two (2) tickets to see the Toronto Raptors in the Round 1 Playoff game. Time and Date to be decided (the “Prize”).
Approximate retail value of the Prize is two hundred dollars ($200.00 CAD).
A Prize Winner is not entitled to any difference between the actual retail value of the Prize and the approximate retail value of the Prize stated herein.

Unauthorized use, reproduction or resale of the Prize is prohibited. The game tickets will not be replaced or replenished if lost, stolen, used incorrectly or without authorization. The game tickets may not be exchanged for cash. Other terms and conditions may apply. The winners must come to the Toronto Star offices at One Yonge Street, 4th Floor, Toronto, Ontario M5E 1E6, in order to claim their Prize. If a potential winner does not claim his/her Prize within one (1) day of notification of selection as a potential Prize winner, another eligible Entry will be selected and contacted and the first selected entrant will have no further claim to the Prize. The Sponsor will not mail or courier the Prize and is not responsible for lost, stolen or unclaimed Prizes. If a potential winner is unable or unwilling to accept or otherwise redeem any Prize on the terms under which it is awarded, the Prize shall be forfeited and no cash or substitutes will be provided in whole or in part. The event associated with the Prize will not be rescheduled if a winner cannot attend and no alternate dates for the games are available.

All game dates and times are subject to change without notice. All incidental costs and expenses not specifically referred to herein as being included in a Prize, including (without limitation) transportation to and from the game, souvenirs and items of a personal nature shall be the sole responsibility of each Prize winner and his/her guest.

Each Prize outlined above must be accepted as awarded, without substitution, and is not transferable, refundable, for resale or, where applicable, convertible to cash. The Sponsor reserves the right, in the event that a Prize, or any component of a Prize, cannot be awarded as described herein for any reason, to substitute the same for another prize or component of equal or greater value, without notice or liability. In the event that a substitute prize is awarded, such prize must be accepted as awarded and cannot be exchanged for cash (where applicable), or otherwise.

Each Prize Winner and his/her guest must follow all directions of the Sponsor/Prize Supplier with respect to the applicable Prize or any aspect thereof. Failure to do so may result in termination of participation, or continued participation, in the Prize or any aspect thereof.

Each respective Prize Winner and his/her guest acknowledges and accepts all risk of damages, injury or other loss incidental to any game for which tickets are issued, whether occurring before, during or after the game, and hereby voluntarily agrees to assume the same. The Sponsor/Prize Supplier reserve the right to refuse admission and/or to expel from the game and/or any other aspect of the Prize, any person whose conduct is deemed by them to be objectionable. Expulsion from the game cancels the tickets for the offending individual(s) and the individual(s) thereupon forfeit(s) all claims with respect to the tickets. Participation in the Prize is subject to compliance with all applicable laws, by-laws, regulations and any applicable facility or carrier rules; failure to comply may result in non-admission or expulsion from further participation in the Prize.

Odds of winning a Prize shall depend on the number of eligible Entries received.

Limit of one (1) Prize per person during the Contest Period.

Winner Selection: The potential winners will be chosen by random draw from among all eligible Entries received during the Contest Period. The draw will take place at the Sponsor’s offices located at One Yonge Street, 4th floor, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5E 1E6 at 10:00 am ET on April 14, 2017.

Each potential winner will be contacted by telephone or email by a representative of the Sponsor, and must reply within twenty-four (24) hours to maintain eligibility. In order to be eligible to win, each potential winner must correctly answer a time limited mathematical skill-testing question, without assistance or mechanical or electronic aid. If any potential winner cannot be contacted within this time period or fails to respond to any attempted contact, or incorrectly answers the skill-testing question posed by the Sponsor, such potential winner will be disqualified, his/her Entry will be declared null and void and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to select, at random, another eligible Entry, in which event these provisions shall apply to such other eligible Entry.

Each potential winner must go to One Yonge Street, 4th floor, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5E 1E6, to collect the Prize won. If a potential winner does not claim the Prize within one (1) day of notification, another eligible Entry may be selected, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, and the first potential winner will have no further claim to the Prize. The Sponsor will not mail or courier the Prize and is not responsible for lost, stolen or unclaimed Prizes. If a potential winner is unable or unwilling to accept or otherwise redeem any Prize on the terms upon which it is awarded, the Prize shall be forfeited and no cash or substitutes will be provided in whole or in part.
Release: Prior to receiving the Prize, each potential winner will be required to show valid photo ID and to sign a Declaration of Eligibility and Release form, releasing the Released Parties (as defined above) from any and all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the Prize, confirming compliance with these Contest Rules and consenting to the use of his or her name and photograph, in any and all forms of media, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Sponsor, Prize Supplier and/or their respective advertising and promotional agencies. The Sponsor must receive the signed form within twenty-four (24) hours of notification or the Prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate Entrant, in the sole discretion of the Supplier, time permitting.
Indemnity and Limitation of Liability:Entrants hereby release, waive and discharge any and all claims of damage, loss or causes of action (including, negligence) against the Released Parties, including (but not limited to) death, personal injury or loss or damage to property, which the Entrant or any of the Entrant’s representatives, heirs, next of kin or assignees (“Entrant’s Representatives”) may have or which may hereinafter accrue to the Entrant or Entrant’s Representatives , as a result of the Entrant’s participation in the Contest or the receipt or use of the Prize awarded herein. By participating in this Contest, each Entrant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all damages, injuries, claims, suits, actions, causes of action, costs, expenses, liabilities or losses of any kind (including but not limited to lawyers’ fees) arising out of or relating to his/her participation in the Contest; receipt or use of any Prize; violation of any term of these Contest Rules or violation of any third party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right; or the administration of the Contest and distribution of the Prizes.
Privacy: Sponsor uses personal contact information to administer this Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting Prize winners and potential Prize winners. The Contest is run in compliance with the Toronto Star Newspapers Limited privacy code, which may be found in full at
Banning: The Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom it believes to be abusing the Contest Rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more times than permitted under these Contest Rules.
Other: This Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein and is void where prohibited by law. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time, without notice. Neither Sponsor nor Prize Supplier shall be liable for any lost, late, misdirected or stolen Entries or inability to process Entries, or for any errors, damage or negligence that may arise in connection with this Contest, including technical issues or failures on any website or software, viruses, website disruptions, malfunctions or website down-time, human error, personal injury or property damage incurred by any Entrant. Sponsor is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. Use of any automated system including robotic or form filling software to enter or participate in this Contest is prohibited and will result in disqualification of all Entries by anyone using such assistance.

All Entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. Potential winners may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected Entry. In the event of a dispute, Entries shall be deemed to be submitted by the “Authorized Account Holder” of the email address on the Contest Entry Form or on the Email Entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an -mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
Prize Supplier: By entering the Contest, each Entrant acknowledges and agrees that MLSE’s sole and exclusive role in the Contest is that of Prize Supplier and that MLSE is in no way responsible for the administration of the Contest or the selection of winners and that all such responsibility rests with the Contest Sponsor.
