BC Hydro Power Smart – Win 1 of 3 prize packages


The British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (“BC Hydro”) Smart Choices Contest (the “Contest”)
begins on October 2, 2017, at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on November 1, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.
PT (the “Contest Period”).

NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. The Contest is open to all legal residents of British Columbia who have
reached nineteen (19) years of age at the time of entry and otherwise comply with these rules (the “Contest
Rules”). Employees of BC Hydro, its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate
family (mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, spouse) and household members of those persons are
not eligible.

To enter for a chance to win the Grand Prize, visit www.powersmart.ca during the Contest Period. By
accessing www.powersmart.ca, the user will automatically be redirected to www.bchydro.com and
prompted to follow the on-screen instructions in order to enter the Contest. The user can complete and
submit the Contest entry form (which requires the entrant to provide the following information: first & last
name, email, phone number) to be entered for the Grand Prize. All Contest entry forms must be received by
the end of the Contest Period. All entries become the property of BC Hydro and will be stored and
destroyed in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. BC Hydro is not
responsible for and accepts no liability for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, or incomplete entries.
Limit one entry per person during the Contest Period. Any person that attempts to obtain more than the
allowable number of entries into the Contest and/or uses multiple names or identities to enter the Contest
will be disqualified.
Three (3) separate prize packages are available to be won during the Contest Period. The first prize package
(the Grand Prize) consists of one Samsung Counter-Depth, 4-Door Flex™ with Family Hub™ in steel
black. (Model # RF22M9581SG/AC approximate retail value of $5,999.99 CDN). Total approximate retail
value of $5,999.99 CDN. The second prize package consists of one Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd
Generation in Stainless Steel (Approximate retail value of $329.00 CAD) and two Nest Protect smoke +
CO alarm 2nd Generation and battery powered in White (Approximate retail value of $149.00 CAD), with
a total approximate retail value of $627.00. The third prize package consists of one Philip hue white and
colour ambiance starter kit- Multicolour (Model 464511 approximate retail value $199.99), one Philips
HUE Smart LED Wireless Dimmer Switch (Model #: 458141 approximate retail value $24.99), one Philips
– hue White and Color Ambiance A19 Smart LED Light Bulb – Multicolor (Model: 454487 approximate
retail value $49.99) and one Philips – hue Tap Remote Switch – White (Model: 456699 approximate retail
value $49.99) with a total approximate retail value of $324.96.
All Prizes: Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions in cash or
otherwise, except in BC Hydro’s exclusive discretion. BC Hydro reserves the right, in the event that any
prize or any component of a prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute another
prize or component of a prize of equal or greater value, without liability.
A random draw will be conducted on or around November 17, 2017 by BC Hydro to select three (3)
entrants from all eligible Contest entries to win the prizes (the “Selected Entrants”). The first name drawn
will be eligible to win the Grand Prize, the second name drawn will be eligible to win the second prize
package, and the third name drawn will be eligible to win the third prize package. The chances of winning
depend on the total number of eligible entries received throughout the Contest Period. Before being
declared a winner, each of the Selected Entrants will be contacted by phone or email and be required to (a)
correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question and (b) sign and return BC Hydro’s Declaration and
Release form, which confirms compliance with these Contest Rules, acknowledges acceptance of the prizes
as awarded, and releases BC Hydro from any and all liability in connection with this Contest and Prize. At
least three (3) attempts will be made over the ten (10) days following the draw to contact the Selected
Entrants. If a Selected Entrant cannot be contacted, fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question, fails
to complete and return the Declaration and Release Form within the two (2) business days, or cannot accept
the prize for any reason, then at BC Hydro’s sole discretion that person will be disqualified and another
entrant will be selected by random draw from remaining eligible entries. BC Hydro is not responsible for
the failure for any reason whatsoever, including its own negligence or due to computer, telephone or
technical problems, of the Selected Entrants to receive notification or for BC Hydro to receive the Selected
Entrants’ response.
BC Hydro will use any personal information provided with the entry, including the entrants’ name, address,
postal code, email, and phone number for the purpose of administering the Contest and for BC Hydro’s
marketing and promotional purposes, both inside and outside of Canada, as contemplated by these Contest
Rules. BC Hydro collects and uses personal information and runs this Contest in furtherance of its
conservation mandate under the Clean Energy Act and in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of

By entering the Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of
BC Hydro, which shall be final and legally binding. No correspondence will be entered into by BC Hydro
with respect to the Contest except with selected entrants. BC Hydro reserves the right to terminate or
amend this Contest at any time without prior notice. The Contest is subject to the laws of the Province of
British Columbia and all applicable federal and municipal laws.
By entering this Contest, all entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless BC Hydro and its
partners, affiliates, advertising/promotional agencies, and their respective employees, officers, directors,
representatives and assigns from any claims, losses and damages arising out of their participation in this
Contest and the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize awarded hereunder. BC Hydro, and any
of its employees, officers, directors, agents, contractors, representatives, affiliates, subsidiaries, or
advertising/promotion agencies (collectively, the “Released Parties”) assume no responsibility whatsoever
and are not be liable for: (i) any failure of the Contest webpage during the Contest; (ii) any technical
malfunction or other problems relating to the telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers,
access providers, computer equipment or software; (iii) errors of any kind whether human, mechanical,
electronic, network, or otherwise arising out of or relating to the Contest; (iv) any injury or damage to an
entrant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the
Contest; and/or (v) any combination of the above. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the
Contest or website, as solely determined by BC Hydro, will be disqualified.
